'Never let anyone come to you without coming away better and happier' - Mother Teresa
Doesn't that make you want to rush out of your comfortable, selfish existence and find someone who you can shower with a smile? I often wonder what our world would be like if everyone smiled more, laughed more, gave more, didn't let themselves be caught up in petty grievances that don't really matter... I think there'd be less loneliness, less anger, less violence. For instance, if you are being served at the shops, doesn't it make you feel happier and lighter when the checkout chick simply gives you a genuine smile and asks how your day is going?
For me it becomes a chain reaction. If I receive a warm smile, I want to go out and make someone experience what I just did. And nothing beats seeing someone who looks sour, grumpy and wearied, slowly start to smile back and their whole face just lights up because they realise someone cares... Smile...you just might save a life!
